Grifters is less a guild for a game, and more a guild of people and friends:
The story starts many years ago when a group of people that all played Everquest together joined together to help form a new guild with intentions of becoming a great and powerful raiding guild. That guild quickly became what they had hoped, and the guild was very successful for quite a long time. Years passed, and some people split to follow their own paths and start new adventures elsewhere. Six of these people began anew in the game of World of Warcraft, and formed Grifters. They stayed together for a good while and again paths began to separate.
These six friends had become very close, and above all else, did not want to lose contact with each other as paths split. Though some years passed and some contact was delayed, these 6 eventually came back together. Through discussion they came to the conclusion that just because people decide to play a different game, or go about other aspects of life, there should always be a place for them to gather. They decided to re-establish Grifters as a guild in three games: Warhammer Online, Everquest, and World of Warcraft. With the intention that players could feel free to play any game they want, or even step away from gaming, and still have a place to be in touch with the friendships we inevitably form in an online game.
We want Grifters to be a community; A community of like minded people who enjoy playing games, and who enjoy each others company.
Grifters is founded upon these principles:
The point of the tax system is to implement a way to support guild expenses without only relying on certain individuals. Guild expenses will include Keep Upkeep, which can be as high as 10g/hour of holding the keep, purchase of standards, which provide everyone in the group certain additional abilities like increased AP regen and toughness, and purchase of recall scrolls to the guild hall. If the guild wanted to host an event as well, the rewards could come from the guild vault instead of only from generous individuals. These expenses help the guild as a whole, and not just certain individuals, so we believe that it is only fair that the guild as a whole supports it.
A couple points to remember when it comes the amount taxed.
Titheing is any additional amount you would like to contribute from your looted gold to the guild. Titheing is purely voluntary. As are direct donations.
We have people in the guild across all 4 time zones, with various schedules. So there is no 'official' timezone for Grifters, but there will likely be players on at all times.
We always welcome family or friends referred to us by current members. Provide their name to an officer to get them invited. All Grifters rules/privileges/etc apply to them immediately thereafter.
We require members to be 18+ unless they are MATUREfriends/family members of current FULL Grifters members.
Head on over to our Application page. Our application process is not a means to judge you as a player or a person, it is only a means to which we can ensure everyone is fully aware of all the requirements and benefits of being a member of Grifters. As soon as you have submitted an application, registered on the forums and posted an introduction post in the Meet and Greet section, we can then continue communications with you via that post to invite you to the guild in-game.
Everyone who joins the guild begins at Initiate rank. To obtain full Member status, you must fulfill a few conditions.
These conditions DO apply to friends and family members that were invited through referral.
Ventrilo is a communication program that we use to communicate with each other by voice instead of having to type in the game. We find we can communicate better through voice then having to stop and type (especially in some heated RvR) and it allows us to get to know each other better.
In Grifters, we require members to be on Ventrilo to participate in all Warhammer Guild Events. Members are not required to speak or even have a microphone for guild events, it is only needed to be able to listen to instructions.
Ventrilo information is only given out to Grifters members and should not be provided to people outside Grifters without approval from the officers. We do encourage members to use Ventrilo as a hang-out to chat or do groups or any other non-event time.
If you have been invited to the guild, have registered on the forums and have posted an introduction post in the Meet and Greet section, you should be given member access. With member access, you may then visit our Vent Info page for our Ventrilo server information.
Again, Ventrilo information is only given out to Grifters members and should not be provided to people outside Grifters without approval from the officers.
If you have any further questions on setting up, feel free to speak to your fellow members or an officer for guidance.
If you are using Vista, take note that you have to run Ventrilo as 'Administrator' to be able to talk while in game. To do this, close out Ventrilo if it is open, right click on your Ventrilo icon on the desktop, and choose Run As and Administrator.
If you still have problems after that, please bring it up to your fellow members or officers, and we'll try to work it out together with you.
Please read any notes that the event has. There may be a level requirement or a time-frame listed. You may sign up for any event you meet the requirements for.
Actual group/warband invitations to the event will be handled on a first come first serve basis. Those that signed up for an event first will be sent the invite first. If you are not online 15 minutes before the event begins, you may lose your sign-up slot. If you will be running late to an event you signed up for, please notify an officer either through a PM or posting on the forums so we can make every attempt possible to make sure you still have a slot.
Absolutely. We have a Private Forum dedicated to guild events where members can post suggestions or interest in a specific event.
Or, if you would like to specifically schedule one ahead of time, simply make a post indicating the Event name and Date in the subject, and include information such as Time, Minimum level requirements (if any), Preferred number of people (or maximum/minimum), and any other details you would like to add. With the following information, an officer can then place the event in our Guild Calendar in game as well.
As the event host, please keep in mind that should you need to cancel the event to notify anyone who may already have signed up for it (via forums or in-game mail if necessary).
Guild events do not need to be supervised by an officer, but we hold each member to upholding Grifters' rules and conduct. Please follow the instructions given by the event host so that everything runs smoothly and everyone can have fun.
Also, please feel free to post any feedback on the result of the event on the forums.
/a is the command to start your chat with. However, you must have the permission granted to you in game. If you discover that you do not have permission to speak in alliance chat, please inform an officer and we will promptly fix that for you.
